We went to the Harrison Grey Otis House in Beacon Hill. Mr. Grey was a lawyer and writer and his house is a museum filled with many things that he left behind. We had to put on socks over our shoes to protect the rugs and floors, and we couldn't touch anything. The house had lots of interesting things, in one room there was a safe that looked like wood on the outside but it was actually was metal on the inside. We saw a cool balancing toy shaped like a horse. Back then symmetry was important if you wanted to be fancy, so the house is very symmetrical. There were mirrors across from mirrors, and fake doors to balance the real doors. There were four chimneys to also show symmetry. They had a lot of mirrors to reflect candlelight.

We made some ornaments out of Plaster of Paris. The molds were made out of  gelatin, which is ground up horse parts! The ornaments looked like flowers, they were symmetrical too. We brought the ornaments to dry for three nights then we painted them. We enjoyed our trip and learned many interesting facts.
