To the Courthouse

The fifth grade went to the West Roxbury District Courthouse.  We saw a movie about making bad choices. They answered questions about what is right choices and what are wrong choices. For example good choices are:
  • do your work
  • stay in school
Bad choices are:
  • join gangs
  • back talk your teachers and parents
We saw ugly stinky evil bad jail cells.  We learned the people in the jail cells do not get their own privacy. GROSS! We saw two court sessions. Both sessions were a little scary but not too scary.  We talked to Judge Coffey. The 5th grade class got to ask Judge Coffey how many clients she has a week. She says: about 1,000-4,000.
We learned to make good choices, avoid bad situations, and most importantly live a good life.
